FAQ
Answered properly, including the awkward ones. If your question isn’t here, send us a message and you’ll get a reply within 24 hours on working days — support is email only, with no phone line and no shop to walk into.
Ordering
Do I need an account to order? No. Checkout asks for an email address and a delivery address, and that’s the lot. The email is where your confirmation and your tracking link go, so give one you actually read.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it? Email us as quickly as you can. Orders leave the warehouse within 48 hours, and once a parcel is packed and handed over we can’t reach back into it. Before it ships we can change the colour, correct the address, or cancel outright and refund you in full. After it ships it becomes a return, which is slower but still works.
Can I mix colours in a two- or three-camera bundle? Yes. Each camera in a bundle gets its own colour picker, so a three-pack can be three different shells. There are eight: Yellow, White, Black, Dark Green, Green, Blue, Red and Grey. One camera is $29.95, two are $49.90, three are $65.85.
Shipping
What does shipping cost? Nothing. Free worldwide shipping on every order, with no minimum spend.
How long will my order take? It leaves the warehouse within 48 hours. Delivery then typically takes 7–12 days. That’s slower than a big retailer and we’d rather print the honest number than a flattering one. Customs can add a few days on top, and that part is out of our hands.
Will I get tracking? Yes. A tracking link is emailed when the parcel ships. It can take a day or two after that before the carrier’s site shows any movement, which is normal and not a sign anything has gone wrong. If the email hasn’t appeared, check your spam folder before you write to us — that’s where most of the missing ones are hiding.
Will I be charged import duty or customs? Possibly, depending on where you live. Our prices don’t include local import charges. We can’t tell you in advance what your country will ask for, and we can’t refund it if they do — any such charge is payable by you, not by us. If duties are a concern where you are, check your national threshold before ordering.
Returns
What’s the return policy? 14 days from the day it’s delivered. Send it back for a refund or a replacement, whichever you prefer. No restocking fee. Opened is fine and used is fine — testing it is the point of the 14 days. Everything comes back in the box, cable included. What we cannot take as a change of mind is physical damage that was not there on arrival: cracked glass, a crushed casing, water damage.
It arrived damaged. What now? Send us a photo of the damage and we’ll replace it. Don’t post the damaged one back — that costs you a trip and a stamp for something we can’t resell anyway. If you’d rather have your money back than a replacement, say so in the same message.
How do I start a return, and who pays the postage? Message us with your order number and we’ll send the return address and instructions. If it’s faulty or damaged we cover it, and in most cases nothing needs to go back at all. If you’ve changed your mind, the return postage is yours to pay — get proof of postage, because untracked parcels do go astray and we can only refund what arrives.
The products
Will the camera photos actually be good? Not in the way your phone is good. The Retro84 shoots 1080p through a very small lens and it shows: highlights blow out in bright sun, greens come out louder than they were, indoor shots go grainy, and there’s an optional date stamp burned into the corner. That’s the appeal — it makes photos that look like 2004, with all the flaws that implies. If you want something sharper than the phone already in your pocket, this isn’t it, and we’d rather tell you now than take the return.
Why isn’t the memory card included? Because a lot of people already have a spare microSD card in a drawer, and we’d rather not add the cost of a second one to everybody’s order. If you haven’t got one, add the 64GB card for $19.95 and it turns up ready to shoot. If you have, use yours and keep the twenty dollars.
Do I need an app, and how do I get the photos off? No app, no account, no pairing, nothing to sign up for. The camera writes files straight to the microSD card. Take the card out and put it in a reader, or connect the camera to a computer with the USB-C cable and copy the files across. The same USB-C port charges it. Nothing here stops working when some company loses interest in maintaining an app.
Is the projector bright enough to use in daylight? No, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling. The OrbitBeam needs a dim room. At night, or with the curtains drawn, you get a proper picture. In a sunlit room at two in the afternoon you’ll get a faint grey rectangle and a bad evening. No projector at this price does daylight — that’s a limitation of small, cheap light engines, not of this one in particular.
How big can the picture be, and where does the projector need to sit? Anywhere from about 30 inches up to 200 inches. The further back it sits the bigger the image gets and the dimmer it gets with it, so around 80–100 inches is the sensible compromise in a normal room. The stand tilts through 180 degrees and the keystone corrects itself, so a table, a shelf or the floor all work without a wonky trapezoid. It has WiFi and streaming apps built in, plus HDMI, USB and Bluetooth audio out. Pick your plug on the product page before you add it to the cart — US, UK and EU are in stock, and AU is sold out at the moment. The 100-inch cinema screen is $19.95 on its own, or $10 when you add it alongside the projector, if you’d rather not project onto wallpaper.
Payment
What can I pay with? Major debit and credit cards, plus the express wallets your device offers — Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. The full list is shown on the payment step, before anything is charged.
What currency will I be charged in? Prices are shown in US dollars. If your region has its own currency configured, the checkout will display and charge that instead. Either way your bank may add a conversion fee of its own, which we never see and can’t refund.
Do you store my card details? No. Payment runs through Shopify’s checkout, which handles the card end to end. We never see a full card number, and there’s nothing card-shaped stored on our side.
